I’m truly honored to be recognized.
My story is pretty simple: 212 has become a way of life for me. I started here when Kerry first opened the gym, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’m probably considered one of the “OGs,” and for nearly 20 years I’ve driven from Bristol to East Providence to get my workouts in. People often ask why I make the trip when there are plenty of gyms closer to home. For a while I tried to explain what it was like, but no one really understood. Now I just simply say there’s nothing else like it and you must experience it understand. The truth is, 212 is more than a gym. The workouts are outstanding, but it’s really the atmosphere, the trainers, the people, and the sense of community that keep me coming back year after year. I’ve tried other places along the way, but nothing compares and I would bet every member would say the same.
212 has played a major role in my life and helped me accomplish a lot, from training for marathons to staying active for skiing, biking, and golf, and simply maintaining my health and fitness. It has also helped me show up better in other areas of my life. As a healthcare executive and father of two very active girls, life is busy, but I always make time for a class. Kettlebell training, in particular, has been one of the best ways for me to clear my mind, reduce stress, and reset. It helps me stay focused at work, be more present for my family, and be the best version of myself. By learning how to push myself in the gym it has helped me push myself professionally and personally.
When I’m able to work out, I make the most of it. Time is valuable, so when I’m there, I’m there to work hard and give it everything I have.
I’m grateful to be part of this community and thankful to everyone at 212 who makes it such a special place. At this point, after so many years and so many workouts, I’m pretty sure I’m part of the fabric. Like I said, it’s a way of life.
