Jenn Enos

Each month when the 212 newsletter comes out, I always look forward to the Member Spotlight. To read other members’ 212 journey is inspiring and encouraging. When I received the email from Kerry that I was chosen to be February’s Member Spotlight it was a huge surprise and honor.

My name is Jenn Enos. I have been a member at 212 since November of 2018, for four years! That may not sound like a long time to some, but to me, a person who has had a membership to every gym in a 20-mile radius, it’s a big deal. I can’t tell you how many times I would commit to a gym and just hand over my money until I could quit without paying a cancellation fee.

I remember the first time I stepped foot into 212. I met Alicia and came at the end of a class. I felt intimidated watching all these people toss around kettlebells like it was nothing. Alicia was great! During my orientation she made me feel right at home. She showed me that with the right coaching I could also be tossing around kettlebells. Everyone was so welcoming; I knew I needed to give 212 a shot.

Over the past four years I have experienced many ups and downs both personally and on my fitness journey. 212 has always reached out at the right time with an email, text, or social media post that is exactly what I need to keep going. When the pandemic began and 212 moved to virtual classes, I panicked. Working out at home is something I have never liked. I thought for sure my workout routine would stop. Then I received a text from Kerry. He asked how my family was doing and if we were all healthy. He also asked if I was keeping up with my workout routine and if there was anything 212 could do. That text was exactly the motivation I needed. I developed an at home workout routine that got me through until 212 was able to reopen.

In September of 2020, my husband suffered a stroke. At that time, I was working on completing my bachelor’s degree, working full time, and raising two children. With the uncertainty of my husband’s recovery, I thought I would be putting my membership on hold. Thankfully, I was able to manage all that was going on (with lots of support from family and friends) and still fit the gym in a couple of times a week. Having that time at 212 gave me an outlet to decompress and burn off that stress I was feeling. (Thankfully my husband has made a full recovery!)

One of the things I love most about 212 are the coaches. All of them have taught me things whether they know it or not. Heather taught me I love boxing, Colin has taught me better form with my single leg RDL’s, Alicia has taught and supported me through my nutrition journey, Kim taught me I can push through her “warm-ups”, Sean has taught me I am stronger than I think, and Kerry taught me exercising at 5 a.m. isn’t so bad. But the thing I love most is the community at 212. Not only do the coaches care and challenge you, but my fellow members do too. I look forward to the classes to workout with other members who challenge and encourage me to be better.

I could not imagine being as successful as I have been without 212! Thank you for being my place of respite and showing me that I can overcome challenges and crush goals!
