Gabe Fernandes

Hello 212 family!

I’m beyond excited to join the 212 Team to assist with coaching classes, supporting you to achieve your goals, and having fun while doing it! When I joined 212 in 2013, I had a very rough start. When I finally got into the groove of the workouts, I realized the importance of consistency and effort to help become healthier, physically and mentally. Also, having a best friend as an accountability partner was a huge win! At that point, I viewed the “H” & “P” in the 212 name as my “Happy Place”.

For anyone who I’ve haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet or maybe we haven’t chatted in a while, allow me catch you up on my life since the 212 member spotlight/blog from years back (links below):

I’ve been married to my amazing wife since 2018. Our son is currently attending URI studying for his majors in mechanical engineering and Italian with plans to intern abroad in the coming year(s). Professionally, I have been a senior analytical manager for 10 years+ for the same company with the pleasure of building & leading an analyst team. Within that team environment, I’ve been passionate in coaching the team to help develop their skill sets to be more effective & productive. This has contributed to their growth, satisfaction, and commitment to each other. This developmental approach has resulted 100% retention without a single analyst opting to leave the team over the decade. Our team journey started with just a two analysts under my care and grew into ten analysts over the past few years, that is, until a recent & massive company re-org.

Actually several weeks before the company re-org announcement, I found myself in a mode of self-reflection. Realizing that my analyst team reached a point of growth and achievements which far exceeded my expectations, I started to think of what other passions I could pursuit. The answer was right in front of me 5-6x a week... 212!

I’ve been honored to participate in many events with 212’ers over the past decade, such as the Tough Mudders, Dragon Boat Races, the 212 Kettlebell Sport Workshop & Competition, and of course the 212 Superhero Program. Completing those filled me with a tremendous amount of joy & satisfaction and also I was able to take away learnings from each one. The one constant was that a good support system & teamwork will help you achieve goals, even those you perceived to be out of reach. One of my goals was and continues to be improving my KB form & flow with the teachings & tips from the 212 Team (OGs and current coaches). Now my passion drives me to take on this new challenge to further growth, but more importantly give back to the 212 community. Recently, I’ve been preparing for this new step with practice coaching sessions with Heather & Kerry and the Functional KB Training Certification. I’m also using this opportunity to take the personal trainer course to help hone in my coaching technique with the expectation of more courses/workshops down the line. I’m very excited to take this new journey with a commitment to you that I will strive to become 1 degree better each day.
