I’m truly honored to be recognized.

My story is pretty simple: 212 has become a way of life for me. I started here when Kerry first opened the gym, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my story, it made me stop and think about something I don’t always pause to ask myself: why do I show up?

I was born at a Salvation Army Hospital in St. Louis Missouri, adopted at birth, three and half years in Papua New Guinea with a missionary family. That family terminated the adoption (yes that is the legal description), foster care then, adopted again a couple of months shy of my 4th birthday and given a new name.

As Newton’s laws go, an object in motion tends to stay in motion. And in my youth, I was a body in motion. I grew up a competitive equestrian and was a three-sport varsity athlete in high school. In my twenties this evolved to group fitness and fun runs. I felt unstoppable.

Diagnosed with diabetes a decade ago, exercise became a vital part of managing my health.

For decades hiking and back packing were part of my life. Many trips, many with my friend Peter, another member of 212, to the High Sierras, the Adirondacks, March trips to the high deserts in California, Arizona, Death Valley, Joshua Tree.

Hi! My name is Abby, and I’m a junior at LaSalle Academy. I play competitive travel softball, which has always been a huge part of my life.

Hi. I’m Frank. I am honored to be chosen as this month’s Member Spotlight. A little bit about me, I am 15 years old, and I am the youngest of 3 children in my family.

Live, work and play are action words! I exercise at 212 to stay in the action.

My name is Elle and I have been a 212 member for almost 10 years.

I came to 212 in May of 2022 after completing physical therapy for bilateral knee replacements per my son John’s encouragement. 

My mind was racing when I received an email from Kerry with the subject line “Congrats!!!!” Did I win the lottery?

My name is Nico Montanari for those that don't know me. It’s an honor to be the member of the month as such a kind and welcoming location like 212.

I have been a member of 212 for 2.5 years and I am surprised and honored to be the member spotlight for August 2024.

What a surprise it was seeing an email from Kerry telling me I was the member spotlight for July 2024. 

My name is Kristina. I am soon to be wife to Nicholas, a mother to Matthew, who is 12, a nurse and teacher at EPHS.

I have been a proud member of 212 Health & Performance since the summer of 2021. Growing up, I was always active in sports like soccer, baseball, and volleyball. I continued playing intramural sports in college and participated in various adult leagues afterward.

I have known about 212 for at least 8 years, when I heard about you guys from Mary Elizabeth. I started getting various little pains when I upped my tennis playing to 3 - 4x a week during Covid.

My daughter informed me that I was going to be 212 Health and Performance’s Spotlight Member this month… “Oh, dear…” I said.  Much like my daughter, I am not a big fan of being in the limelight or having attention drawn to me.
