TRX Y's. Why? Because I love you.

Yoga Push Ups get misconstrued for too many variations. Here is what I know I call a "Yoga Push Up" and how I prefer teaching it.

My dog, Zoey, is actually the female live version of Doug from UP!

Here is my personal favorite recipe for Pumpkin Bison Chili that my friend and client, Chef Nick Rabar of Avenue N American Kitchen graciously taught me. NOTE: This is NOT exactly how Nick makes it, he inspired my version. For Avenue N's version, check them out www.avenuenamericankitchen.com

Ingredients:
1 small pumpkin, deseeded and rough chop
1/4 cup olive oil
3-4 lbs ground bison
1/2 Tbsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 large red onion, finely diced
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1-2 poblano or green peppers, diced
2 Tbsp cumin
1 Tbsp cayenne pepper
1 Tbsp chili powder
1 Tbsp smoked paprika
Dash of cinnamon
1/2 Tbsp chipotle chili powder
1 bottle dark beer or pumpkin beer (I use Pumking)
4 cups homemade or low sodium chicken stock
1 (16oz) can chopped tomatoes
1 bottle Poblano Farms Tomato Sauce
1 can tomato paste
1 1/2 piece Hershey Bar
2 cups canned white beans, rinsed and drained

Directions:
Roast the pumpkin chunks in the oven for 20mins at 420 and then cool. Peel off the skin.
Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over high heat. Season the bison with salt and pepper and saute until browned on all sides. Transfer the meat to a plate and remove all but 3 tablespoons of the fat from the pan.
Add the onions and peppers to the pan and cook until soft. Add the garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Add the smoked paprika, cayenne powder, chipotle powder, and cumin and cook an additional 2 minutes. Add the beer and cook until completely reduced. Return the bison to the pot, add the chicken stock, pumpkin, tomatoes, paste and chocolate, and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium, cover and simmer for at least 45 minutes. Add the beans and continue cooking for 15 minutes.
Remove from the heat, add the cinnamon and adjust seasonings as needed.

I rarely "talk politics" in my blogs, save for references to political agendas and happenings in songs or from musical groups I enjoy. Yet, don't you think it is about time we start thinking of making "None of the above", or "No confidence" options on all voting ballots? Especially in light of this year's election? Imagine the concept (which is not new by the way) of voting "None of the above" and it would reset the deck yet not allowing any of the previous candidates to run again in a re-election. AND imagine being able to vote "No confidence" to candidates whom run un-opposed?

Greedo didn't shoot first. Han did. Deal.

I caught my daughter watching Star Wars on TV the other day and was reminded of the Buzz Droids in the beginning of Star Wars Episode 3. They were completely unnecessary. Much like the rest of the film (save but the last 20 minutes). I am so glad Lucas isn't around to ruin something so simple anymore. Tell the story, and stop trying to sell me sucky toys.

This is me dealing with protein shakers...

Yarn.com might be the single most amazing thing on the internet for me. Finally somebody else knows my affinity for movie quotes and even the miscellaneous ones.

I have been getting the itch to get back into wrestling. It conflicts with two things- daddy/daughter time and ummm dealing with pain. LOL.

Sphinx push ups are awful. Awful good for core and triceps. Specifically the lowering phase from the top of the push up position to the floor.

Have you ever read or listened to the lyrics of "I'm not in love" by 10cc? That is some brutal stuff.

Swimmer planks are a much more advanced plank variation to try. Start with the laces of your shoes down into the ground and feet together, while pinning your elbows in towards your ribcage and your hands palms down. Once you elevate your hips, contract your abdomen hard as well as your upper back as you pull your shoulder blades and "put them in your back pocket." Hold for 15-20 seconds to start or practice 10 breaths.
