Buon giorno! Hi everyone, my name is Jerry Jivoin. You probably hear me and Coach Sean speaking a little Italian when we’re together!

Whoa! I am surprised and honored to be chosen for the May spotlight!

My name is Jimmy Sorel, I’m a lifelong athlete, and 212 helped me change my life and find my future.

Before I get into the life changing parts, here’s my sports origin story.

I’ve played softball for as long as I can remember, started running and practiced yoga for about 2 years before I joined 212.

First of all, I’m a little shy , although excited to have been chosen for our member spotlight. It’s important I say thank you for each of you that keep me inspired each time I show up to 212.

When Kerry notified me I was selected as a member spotlight, I was quite surprised. Why choose someone so extraordinarily ordinary?

Well, you all are probably wondering, “who is this chick?” “Does she even go to our gym?” I wouldn’t be at all surprised to hear this, as life has a way of keeping me from a regular commute to Rumford.

I have always been passionate about athletics, competing at recreational, high school and collegiate levels.

HOLY COW!!!! I’ve been selected as a spotlight member! Thank you Kerry and the 212 team for giving me this opportunity.

Mountains are indifferent to whether you climb them.  And weights care not whether you lift them. But they share something –

The journey with 212 has taken me to places I never thought I would go.  If you told me three years ago I would be signing up for two obstacle course races in a month I would have laughed. 

Working in the history field means that I love markers of time and seeing how things evolve from one point to another.

My wife, Lyn, thought I should get more exercise. I went along with the idea, after all, I was 70.  Kerry interviewed me. I told him I was in pretty good shape.

Over the last two and a half years, 212 has given me a powerful foundation to explore who I am, what I want, and what I'm capable of.

Growing up I was never athletic.  Granted, I wasn’t hopelessly un-athletic, I was just “average.” Often, when it came time to pick teams, I was never the first one picked, nor the last one; rather I always fell right in the middle.

I admit, I’m a bit of an exercise enthusiast.  I couldn’t imagine my life any other way!  I am a wife, a mother of three wonderful daughters, a co-founder of a small business and I practice pediatrics at East Bay Pediatrics in Barrington.

Thank you Kerry and the entire team at 212 for selecting me as this month’s Member Spotlight.  To say I was both shocked and scared when I received Kerry’s email was an understatement.

So growing up in the North of England I was not what you would call naturally gifted in the sports department.

In 2015 I decided I needed to do something for myself. I was living mostly on Block Island and there really wasn’t a gym that suited my needs.
